FamilySpeak is a speaking app for kids 6 to 12. It has two courses: Habla (Spanish) and Pale (Haitian Creole). Because kids under 13 use it, we follow the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and how you delete it.

The short version

1. Parent permission (COPPA)

Kids never sign up or log in on their own. A parent creates the account with an email address and password. Before any child profile can be used, the parent confirms they are 18 or older and the child’s parent or legal guardian, and gives permission for the child to use FamilySpeak. We save that permission with the date and time and the version of this notice it covered.

A parent can review what we have about their child in the parent area, ask us to delete it, or refuse further collection by deleting the child’s profile. Email hello@familyspeak.app for anything you can’t do in the app.

2. What we collect

3. Who helps us run FamilySpeak

4. How we use it

5. How long we keep it

We keep your family’s data while your account is open, so progress isn’t lost if you take a break or a trial ends. Delete it anytime as described below. When the test ends, we will tell test families what happens to their accounts, and we will delete test data on request.

6. How to delete data

Deletion is immediate in the app. Copies in our providers’ backups are removed as those backups expire. Emails already sent can’t be unsent.

7. Keeping it safe

8. Changes

If we change what we collect about children, we’ll update this page and ask parents for permission again in the app before the change applies.
