Getting started

How do I install the test version?
  1. Email us to join the test. We’ll send an invite to your email.
  2. On your iPhone, install TestFlight from the App Store (it’s free, made by Apple).
  3. Open the invite email on your iPhone and tap View in TestFlight, then Install.
  4. Open FamilySpeak and create your parent account.
How do I set up my kids?

Create your parent account and give permission. Then, in the parent area, tap Add a kid. Enter a nickname, age, boy or girl, and the family language: Spanish (Habla) or Haitian Creole (Pale). The first time your child plays, a short level check finds the right starting unit.

How do I get into the parent area?

On the “Who’s playing?” screen, tap the grown-ups button and answer the math question written in words. This keeps kids out of the settings.

During lessons

The microphone doesn’t work

Your child needs to hold the mic button while talking, then let go. If it still doesn’t work, open iPhone Settings → FamilySpeak and turn on Microphone.

The app said my child was wrong, but they were right

Speech checking can make mistakes with young voices, especially during the test. Your child can always try again, and after two tries the app shows them how to say it. Tell us which lesson and question. It helps us fix it.

Can my child see English?

Yes. In the parent area, turn on Show English hints. A small English line appears under each line in the family language.

I don’t hear any voice

Check that the ringer/silent switch isn’t muting sound and that the volume is up. Haitian Creole lessons need an internet connection to load the voice.

Family voices

How do grandparents record their voice?

Parent area → tap your child → Family voices → Invite a family member. Share the link by text. They open it on their phone and record each line. No app or account needed.

Your data

How do I delete my child’s data or my account?

One child: Parent area → tap the child → Delete [name]’s data.
Everything: Parent area → Account → Delete my account.
Both delete recordings too. See the Privacy Policy.
