Draft, to be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch. These terms cover the FamilySpeak test (TestFlight) version.
Terms of Use
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Welcome to FamilySpeak. By creating an account or using the app, the website, or a family voice link, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use FamilySpeak.
1. Who can use FamilySpeak
- Accounts are for parents and legal guardians who are 18 or older. You must give permission before your child uses the app.
- Children 6 to 12 use FamilySpeak through their parent’s account, with the parent’s permission and supervision.
- Family members you invite by link (for example, a grandparent) may use the family voice page for your child only.
2. This is a test version
- FamilySpeak is in testing. Features may change, break, or be removed, and we may reset or end the test.
- During the test, it’s free. The plan and free-trial screens are there for testing only. Nothing is charged, and no payment details are collected. If paid plans start later, we’ll explain the prices first and you choose whether to subscribe.
- Please tell us about problems. Your feedback helps make FamilySpeak better, and we may use it without owing you anything.
3. Your account
- Keep your password private, and don’t let your child into the parent area.
- Give accurate information, and enter only a first name or nickname for each child.
- One family plan covers up to 4 kid profiles.
- You can delete a child’s data or your whole account anytime in the parent area. See the Privacy Policy for what that deletes.
4. Family voice links
- Anyone with a family link can record lines and hear your child’s messages on it, so share it only with family members you trust.
- You’re responsible for who you share links with. You can remove a link anytime, which stops it and deletes its recordings.
- Family members should record only the lines shown, and nothing hurtful or private.
5. Using FamilySpeak the right way
Please don’t misuse FamilySpeak. For example, don’t try to get into other families’ data, interfere with the service, copy or resell the lessons, or use the AI grandparent to get anything other than a kid-friendly conversation.
6. Lessons, speech checking and AI
- FamilySpeak helps kids practice speaking. It isn’t a school, a tutor, or a speech therapy service, and it can’t guarantee fluency.
- Speech checking and the AI grandparent use automated tools that can make mistakes, especially with young voices. Kids can always try again.
- The Haitian Creole course (Pale) and its AI voice are early versions being reviewed by native speakers, so some words may change.
7. Our content
The app, lessons, stories, characters, and designs belong to FamilySpeak or its licensors. You may use them for your family’s personal learning. Recordings your family makes stay yours. You let us store and play them in your child’s app and on your family links only to run the service.
8. No warranty and limits
FamilySpeak is provided “as is” during the test, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, FamilySpeak isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost progress during the test. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can’t be limited.
9. Ending use
You can stop using FamilySpeak and delete your account anytime. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service or put children at risk, or end the test, and we’ll tell you by email when we can.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we’ll tell you in the app or by email. Using FamilySpeak after a change means you accept the new terms.
